Rituals
Rituals function a lot like routine. Rituals are a great tool within the Effective Practical Parenting
program. Rituals are involved in all levels of EPP parenting.
Rituals are simply repeated interactions
you develo with your children. They can be playful exchanges, songs or games.
Rituals help build and reinforce safety, security and love. They can be used to help a child transition
from one activity to the next. They can be used while learning to express anger appropriately.
Rituals
are an ever present option for teaching. Use, discover and create rituals in your home. You will be delighted
at the positive tone they create and the problem solving role they play.
You can have playful, fun rituals around food, hygiene, play and family worship. Rituals often start
with young children as physical and over the years become more verbal. They are a way of providing levity, joy
and building a playful, positive family culture.
